
Falcons Drop 3-0 Decision To Defending MAC Champion Ohio

The Bowling Green State University volleyball team had their three game win streak snapped Sunday afternoon inside Anderson Arena after being swept by Ohio (30-19, 30-15, 30-25). With the loss the Falcons fall to 12-8, 5-3 in MAC play.
The first two games belonged to Ohio. In game one the Bobcats hit .324 compared to an .086 for BGSU. Ohio raced out to a 13-6 advantage and cruised him with a 30-19 game one victory.
In game two, the Bobcat offense was very impressive. They hit a .731, pounding out 20 kills, while committing only one error. OU opened with a 6-2 spurt and never looked back. Ohio won game two, 30-15.
Game three saw a different Falcon squad. They came out of the locker room very aggressive, even opening with an 11-8 advantage with kills by Melissa Mohr, Taylor Twite and Emily Manser. OU pulled even at 13-13, stretching the lead to 21-18, but the Falcons were not going to give up that easily. They stormed back with a run of their own to knot the score at 24, but two attack errors combined with two OU kills ended game three and the match, 30-25.
In the loss, Stephanie Swiger led BGSU with eight kills, followed by Maggie Karges (7), Manser (6), Twite (6), Mohr (5) and Amber Mareski (5).
Chrissy Gothke led the Brown and Orange with 13 digs, with Karges and Madeline Means each chipping in five digs apiece.
Up next for BGSU is a trip up north, when they will face-off with Central Michigan (Oct. 22) and Western Michigan (Oct. 23).
