Omaha, Neb. - The University of Nebraska-Omaha defeated Bowling Green State University, 4-2, in a CCHA contest Friday night in Omaha. It was just the second loss of the season for the Falcons who are now 4-2-1 and 2-2-1 in the league. UNO won its fifth straight game at home and is 6-3 overall and 4-3 in the CCHA. The two teams will meet again on Saturday evening at the Qwest Center.
"We got ourselves behind early with a couple of penalties and that put us in a hole,"said BGSU Coach Scott Paluch. "They did more of the little things and made big plays all night."
BGSU trailed 2-0 before getting a goal from freshman Jonathan Matsumoto, his fourth of the season with 1:17 left in the opening period. After the Falcons went scoreless in the second, senior Steve Brudzewski notched his first goal of the season with 12:24 remaining in the third to cut the Mavs lead to 4-2.
UNO outshot BGSU 35-23.
