BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - For the third time this season, the Bowling Green State University women's cross country team is listed in the regional rankings. This time, the Falcons of head coach Cami Wells have moved up to 14th in the final Great Lakes Region poll of the year. The Falcons were 15th in the poll, administered by the Womens Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association (WICCCA) in each of the two previous polls.
The Falcons are coming off a 14th-place finish at Saturday's (Nov. 13) NCAA Great Lakes Regional, the school's highest finish in four years. In that race, BGSU had four runners post times that rank among the top six in school history for a 6K race.
Senior Niki Suitor was the first Falcon to finish, placing 51st in the 209-woman, 6K race (21:26.5), while classmate Melissa Krueger was 66th (21:40.6). Suitor's time set a new school record for a 6K race, breaking Amber Culp's mark of 21:50 (set last year). Krueger's time also was faster than Culp's former school-record 6K result.
Jamie Roflow finished 77th in a time of 21:52.3, while Elise Gould was 89th in 22:09.8. Roflow's result ranks her fourth on the BGSU 6K list, while Gould's time is the sixth-fastest by a Falcon on a 6K course.
