Bowling Green, Ohio - Entering the final two weeks of the MAC football season, five teams remain with just one league loss (BG, Marshall, Toledo, Akron, and Miami), while one (Northern Illinois) is trying to become the first team in league history to ever win the West Division without suffering at least one setback during conference play. With several key matchups scheduled among the league leaders in the coming days, BGSU fans will have one opportunity to witness one of them at Doyt Perry Stadium next week.
Bowling Green (7-2 and 5-1), which has a six-game winning streak and is coming off its most lopsided victory ever in MAC play (52-0 vs. Western Michigan), will host Marshall (5-4 and 5-1) at noon Saturday, November 13. It will be a battle of the MAC's best offense in Bowling Green (42.8 points, 492.1 yards) against the league's stingiest defense in Marshall (280.8 yards allowed, 15.8 points).
As part of the Athletic Department's Orange Onslaught promotional efforts, fans are encouraged to wear Orange to the game and cheer on 15 seniors who will be playing their final home game at Doyt Perry Stadium. This senior class has a MAC best 35-11 record and have helped the Falcons to national rankings in 2002 and 2003, and the 2003 MAC West and Motor City Bowl titles. In addition, they are the first senior class since 1985 to win at least seven games in each of their four seasons with the Falcons.
"Our seniors have played their hearts out and have brought Falcon football back to prominence," said BGSU coach Gregg Brandon. "This game is special to our program and I hope our fans will come out and show them the support and adulation that they are due."
The first 10,000 fans will receive Cheerstix courtesy of the University Bookstore and fans may stop by area Meijer stores and receive a free ticket with the purchase of selected items.
