CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball sophomore Ali Mann has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday (Dec. 20). Mann earns the honor for the first time this season and the second time in her Falcon career.
Mann, a forward from Chelsea, Mich., had her second double-double in as many games, with 19 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in BGSU's overtime win at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 18). The Falcons rallied for an 80-74 decision in that game.
Mann played 42 of the game's 45 minutes, and was 6-of-13 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. Mann also had an assist and a pair of steals against the Red Flash, who went 25-6 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
For Mann, 13 of her points and seven rebounds came after halftime, as the Falcons erased a nine-point second-half deficit.
The Falcons completed the trip with a Monday (Dec. 20) win at Robert Morris, 66-51. On the season, Mann is averaging 12.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, ranking second on the Falcons in each category. She also ranks third on the team with 2.1 assists per contest.
Mann earns this week's MAC Player-of-the-Week honor for the West Division. Kent State's Melissa DeGrate was named the East Division P-O-W.
The Falcons (6-4) of head coach Curt Miller, after taking a break for the holidays, will return to action with a Dec. 30 home game vs. Bucknell. Tipoff for that game, just the second home contest of the season, will be at 7:00 p.m. at venerable Anderson Arena.
