Hanover, N.H. - (AP) - Tanner Glass scored for the Dartmouth men's hockey team during a 1-1 tie with Bowling Green on Wednesday at Thompson Arena before netting the gamewinner in a sudden-victory shootout, helping the Big Green advance to the championship game of the Ledyard National Bank Tournament.
Sean Samuel made a career-high 38 saves for Dartmouth (4-6-2) while Jordan Sigalet had 50 stops for Bowling Green (8-6-3).
Glass put Dartmouth on the board at 12:01 of the first period on a short-handed tally off an assist from Eric Przepiorka. However, Bowling Green's Jonathan Matsumoto evened the score with 2:40 gone in the third period off helpers from Alex Foster and Don Morrison.
The teams played five scoreless minutes of overtime before each tallied twice during a best-of-five shootout. With the score still a statistical tie, the game went to a sudden-victory shootout.
Bowling Green's Brett Pilkington gave the Falcons a quick edge, but Mike Ouellette responded for the Big Green. Both teams missed on their next two attempts, and after Matsumoto mis-fired, Glass beat Sigalet to help Dartmouth advance.
Bowling Green will play Providence in the tournament's consolation game at 4 p.m. on Thursday while the Big Green will take on Vermont, a 3-1 winner over Providence earlier on Wednesday, at 7 p.m. in the championship.
