TOLEDO, Ohio - Visiting DePaul University swept the doubles matches, then won five of six singles contests en route to a 6-1 victory over the Bowling Green State University tennis team Friday night (Feb. 6). The non-conference dual match was held at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
With the loss, the Falcons dropped to 4-2 on the season.
Sophomore Heidi Romer posted the Falcons' lone victory on the evening, downing the Blue Demons' Petra Rehusova at the fifth singles flight. BGSU's other singles competitors were junior Susie Schoenberger at the top flight, senior Lisa Maloney at the second level, junior Cameron Benjamin at the third flight, senior Gaby Coello at the fourth flight and sophomore Andrea Meister at the sixth level.
In doubles action, DU's Marina Parashevova, who had downed Schoenberger at the top flight, teamed with Gergana Ganeva for an 8-2 win over Schoenberger and Maloney. The Blue Demons' second-level team also posted an 8-2 victory, while BGSU's Coello and freshman Ashley Jakupcin fell by a score of 8-5 at the third doubles flight.
The Falcons will look to bounce back with a Saturday evening (Feb. 7) match at the University of Cincinnati. That match begins at 6:00 p.m. BGSU returns to Shadow Valley next Friday evening (Feb. 13) to face another Windy City outfit, the University of Illinois at Chicago.
