Bradenton, Fla. - Bowling Green had its four-game winning streak snapped with a 1-0 defeat to Holy Cross on Tuesday night in Bradenton, Fla. The Falcons are scheduled to be off today.
The Crusaders scored the game's lone run in the top of the sixth inning off of redshirt-freshman Greg Becker. The Falcon pitching staff allowed just seven hits and one walk while striking out 10 Holy Cross batters.
Offensively, though, BGSU couldn't plate the game-tying run. Redshirt-junior Andy Hudak had the Falcons' only multiple-hit performance, finishing 2-for3 with a double.
Becker suffered the loss while freshman Alen Brech pitched the first five innings, allowing just three hits and no walks while striking out five. Adam Gumpf (.2 innings) and Matt Hundley (2.1 innings) also saw action on the mound, each striking out a pair.
The Falcons are now 5-2 overall and will play a scheduled doubleheader tomorrow, Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m. at McKechnie Field in Bradenton, Fla. against Rhode Island. BGSU rounds out its Spring Break trip with one game vs. Yale on Friday (3 p.m.) and one game vs. Eastern Kentucky on Saturday (10 a.m.).
