Falcons Fall At No. 46 UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team, playing for the first time in three weeks, ran into a hot team on their home court Friday afternoon (March 19). The Falcons fell to nationally-ranked UNLV by a 7-0 score at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
With the win, the 46th-ranked Lady Rebels improved to 8-3 on the season, and 8-1 in home matches, while the Falcons fell to 8-5. The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for the Brown and Orange.
UNLV, with one match remaining in a 10-match homestand, began the day by sweeping three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Rebels then captured each of the singles flights in straight sets.
BGSU's singles lineup consisted of, from flights one through six, junior Susie Schoenberger, senior Lisa Maloney, sophomore Heidi Romer, freshman Ashley Jakupcin, junior Cameron Benjamin and sophomore Andrea Meister.
Jakupcin's loss, to Cindy Treber, was her first in 10 dual matches this season. The Falcon frosh now has a 17-3 overall singles mark.
BGSU will remain in Vegas for a Sunday (March 21) match vs. Middle Tennessee State University. The Lady Raiders, who play UNLV on Saturday before meeting the Falcons, are 8-4 on the season, with all four losses having come to nationally-ranked teams.
