YPSILANTI, Mich. - Host Eastern Michigan University swept the six singles matches to complete a 7-0 win over the Bowling Green State University tennis team Friday afternoon (March 26). The Mid-American Conference match was held indoors at the Chippewa Racket Club.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in MAC play. The Falcons fall for the first time in league action this season, dropping to 8-7 and 2-1, respectively.
Eastern swept all three doubles matches to earn the day's first point. In singles action, the Eagles took five of the six matches in straight sets. BGSU senior co-captain Lisa Maloney battled Ying Kansuthi tough at the second flight. Maloney won the first set before losing the second set in a tiebreaker, then dropping the third set.
Junior Susie Schoenberger was defeated by Victoria Domina at the top flight, while BGSU's other singles competitors, in order from flights three through six, included freshman Ashley Jakupcin, sophomore Heidi Romer, junior Cameron Benjamin and senior Jessica Johnson.
The Falcons will look to bounce back Saturday (March 27), when BGSU heads to Toledo to face the arch-rival UT Rockets.
