BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Jeff Warnock is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Warnock, a junior on the BGSU baseball team, helped the Falcons to a 3-1 record last week.
Warnock, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio (Taylor H.S.), went 4-for-9 (.444) last week as the Falcons won three of four games. The leftfielder smacked his first home run in two years against Ball State on Sunday, which was the Falcons' lone run of the contest. Warnock finished 2-for-3 against the Cardinals.
Earlier in the week vs. Xavier, he was 2-for-2 with two runs scored in a 4-3, 10-inning victory. In addition to the .444 average, Warnock scored three runs and had a .778 slugging pct. in the four games.
Warnock, an early childhood studies major, maintains a cumulative grade-point average of 3.94.
The Falcons are 11-4 on the year, and BGSU is 2-1 in Mid-American Conference play heading into a three-game weekend series at Central Michigan. The Falcons and Chippewas are scheduled to play in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., this Friday through Sunday (April 2-4).
