Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University junior Jeff Warnock has been named to the 2004 Academic All-District IV University Division Baseball Second Team, as selected by members of the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
University Division District IV consists of all NCAA Division I universities in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 GPA and a starter or significant reserve on his team. Members of the first team will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Warnock has the highest grade-point-average on the Falcon baseball team with a 3.94 GPA and was named to Mid-American Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2003. The Cincinnati native is third on the team with a .359 batting avg. and is tied for the team-lead with three triples. He also has four doubles, one home run and 16 RBIs in 40 games played. The outfielder has committed just one error in 48 opportunities. Warnock was a candidate for the BGSU Junior Male Scholar-Athlete this spring.
The last Falcon baseball player to recognized in the district for his academic performance was Scott Dukate in 2001 when he was named All-Academic District IV First Team.
