BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's and women's cross country teams hosted the Mel Brodt Invitational Saturday afternoon (Sept. 11) on the BGSU campus. The Falcon men placed fourth of five Division-I teams, while the BGSU women were second of six D-I schools. Rogers Kipchumba (4th) and Elise Gould (7th) were the top Falcon finishers.
On the women's side, Gould led the Brown and Orange with a time of 18:13, placing just ahead of Jamie Roflow (8th, 18:16). Melissa Krueger (10th, 18:24), Niki Suitor (14th, 18:55) and Kim Settle (19th, 19:06) rounded out the Falcons' top five. There were 68 D-I competitors and 153 runners all together in the 5K race.
The men were once again led by Kipchumba (25:39), who was coming off a first-place finish last weekend in the dual meet with Toledo. Kipchumba was followed by Edwin Cheruiyot (15th, 26:17), Bryan Jackson (26th, 27:12), Steve Vairetta (35th, 27:52) and Ryan Rohrer (38th, 28:02). There were 51 D-I competitors and 142 runners all together in the 8K race.

The Falcons now prepare for the Toledo Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 18. The women's race will begin at 11:45, with the men starting at 12:15.
