Falcons Kick Off Season with 4th Annual John Piper Intercollegiate

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's golf team will host the 4th annual John Piper Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 13-14), at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio. A tournament-high 15 teams will compete in this year's two-day, 54-hole tournament.
The tournament is named after former Falcon men's golf coach John Piper who coached the Brown and Orange for 13 years from 1970-1982. Piper led BGSU to three Mid-American Conference Championships and one runner-up finish. Piper currently resides in Bowling Green and serves as an assistant to the men's golf team.
Competing in the Piper Intercollegiate will be BGSU, Butler, Cleveland State, Dayton, Depaul, Detroit-Mercy, IPFW, Longwood, Marquette, Notre Dame, Oakland, Ohio, Wis.-Green Bay, Wright State, and Youngstown State.
The Falcons will have an "A" and "B" team competing in the tournament. On the `A" team will be Craig Pickerel, Heath Ziglar, Jace Walker, Trevor Spathelf, and Dan McIntyre. On the "B" team will be Brad Dearsman, Adam Cordes, Chris Leake, Tommy Lopez, and Russell Goodwin. Michael Bibler will compete as an individual.
There will be 36 holes played on Monday, Sept. 13, beginning with a tee-time start at 7:45 a.m. on holes one and 10. Tuesday's round of 18 holes will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Stone Ridge Golf Club is a par 72 and 7,064 yards long.
