Falcons Head to Ann Arbor for Wolverine Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University tennis team, after opening the season with a successful tournament at home last weekend, heads to Ann Arbor, Mich., this weekend. The Falcons will participate in the sixth annual Wolverine Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan, this Friday through Sunday (Oct. 1-3) at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Head coach Penny Dean, a Michigan alumna, and the Falcons will be joined at the tournament by Cincinnati, Marquette, Michigan State, Western Michigan, Xavier and host U-M.
Action will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and feature three flights of singles play and one doubles flight.
The Falcons are coming off a successful showing at the team's own BGSU Invitational last weekend. Senior Laura Kokinda and sophomore Ashley Jakupcin each captured a singles flight championship at the two-day, five-team event. Kokinda teamed with junior Andrea Meister for a doubles title at the invite.
Senior Susie Schoenberger and freshman Jenna Nussbaum posted runner-up finishes in their singles flights, while the team of Jakupcin and senior Cameron Benjamin finished second in doubles play.
This weekend marks the fifth consecutive season the Falcons have competed at the Wolverine Invite.
