BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team fell 194.675-190.900 Sunday afternoon to the defending Mid-American Conference champion Central Michigan Chippewas. In the loss junior Jessica Guyer placed second on the floor (9.875), third on beam (9.750) and fourth on the vault (9.700), all team-bests.
The Falcons top event was the floor exercise, where they posted a combined score of 48.725. BGSU was led by Guyer's 9.875, but was also joined by sophomores Bethany Kenel (9.800) and Allison Swafford (9.750).
BGSU also posted a solid score on the vault with a team score of 48.150. Guyer led the team with a 9.700, while freshman Jayme Stambaugh (9.700) placed fifth and senior Kristin DiPietro posted a mark of 9.600 for eighth place.
Guyer also led the team on the balance beam with a 9.750. She was joined by Kenel (9.550) and freshman Jessica Ewart (9.450). The Falcons as a team posted a score of 47.100 on the beam.
Junior Jessica Bradley placed fourth on the bars with a score of 9.725 for top honors with the Brown and Orange. She was joined by DiPietro (9.625) and sophomore Sakura Tomita (9.600). Bowling Green posted a team score of 46.925 on the bars.
Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Ypsilanti, Michigan, when BGSU will face-off with Eastern Michigan on Jan. 29. The meet is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
