BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green (11-8) continued to roll Friday night, extending their win streak to four matches with a 3-0 sweep of Central Michigan (30,17, 30-20, 33-31). After senior Ashlei Nofzinger and junior Chrissy Gothke recorded career-highs in kills earlier in the week, redshirt freshman Kendra Halm followed suit by smashing a personal best 20 kills while hitting .485 on the night.
Also to note, Gothke earned yet another triple double with 12 kills, 30 assists and 10 digs, her second in a row and fourth of the season.
After dropping the first two points in game one, the Falcons changed gears and trounced Central Michigan by hitting .413 in the 30-17 win. The Chippewas had no answer for Nofzinger as she started the match with a perfect six kills on six attacks. BGSU was led defensively by freshman Chelsey Meeks and her 11 game-one digs.
Game two was similar to the first as the Falcons strolled to another large margin of victory (30-20) by suffocating Central Michigan defensively. Bowling Green held the Chippewas to a .101 hitting percentage in the first two games. Halm belted a team-high eight kills in the triumph.
The Chippewas nearly swiped game three by keeping it close throughout and even obtaining a match point opportunity at 30-29. However, a kill by Halm tied the game and kept the Falcons alive. If that wasn't enough, Halm then hammered home two more kills to give the Brown and Orange points 31 and 32 before a Chippewa attack error ended the match.
Saturday night's showdown with Eastern Michigan will mark the 700th time that Head Coach Denise Van De Walle has been at the helm of the Falcon volleyball squad. Her overall record is 408-291 (.583). The Falcons and Eagles are schedules to do battle at 7 PM in Anderson Arena.
