BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Falcons fell to 14-10 on the season after being swept by #21 Ohio on Friday night in Athens, Ohio. Freshman Kendra Halm continued to play well however, smashing eight kills while hitting .438 in the losing effort.
Bowling Green looked to be set on pulling off the upset early in game one, taking a 14-13 lead over the Bobcats. Unfortunately, Julia Winkfield recorded eight of her game-high 21 kills in the opening act to push Ohio to the 30-27 win.
BGSU and the Bobcats were neck-and-neck through the first portion of game two as well, knotting at a 14-14 tie. However, the Falcons struggled to stop the Ohio offensive attack, allowing a .312 hitting percentage in the 30-22 defeat.
Five kills by senior Ashlei Nofzinger helped the Falcons tie the game at 25-25 in game three. Then back-to-back kills by the Bobcats gave Ohio a lead they would not relinquish in the 30-26 Falcon defeat.
Senior Emily Manser got back on track, hitting .353 while blasting seven kills. Manser also compiled a game-high 16 digs. Redshirt sophomore Corrie Mills and Nofzinger tied for the team-high with 10 kills for the match.
The Brown and Orange look to rebound Saturday night with a match against Kent State. The Falcons and Golden Flashes are scheduled to battle at 7 PM.
