BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - It was déjà vu for the Bowling Green volleyball team as a pair of seniors and sophomore Stephanie Swiger fueled the Falcon attack, blasting kills all over the court just as they had the night before in a 3-1 win over Akron.
Senior Ashlei Nofzinger's 17 kills pushed her total to 33 for the weekend, while fellow senior Emily Manser racked up 29 kills on the road trip. The Falcons hit an incredible .365 in the 3-0 sweep of the Bulls. Swiger totaled 18 kills without an error in the back-to-back wins, good for a .419 (18-0-43) hitting percentage.
The Brown and Orange wasted little time displaying their dominance, bolting to a 5-0 advantage to start the match. Buffalo would scrap back to a two-point deficit at 16-18 before consecutive kills by Nofzinger and Swiger shut the door and allowed the Falcons to coast to a 30-22 win. BGSU hit over .400 in the opening act (20-2-44).
The Falcons motored to an early lead in the second stanza as well with a 6-2 advantage. Bowling Green cruised to a 30-18 win while hitting .389 in game two. Number seven, Nofzinger, could not be stopped, hammering seven game two-kills.
After returning from the locker room, BGSU took another 6-2 lead in game three. As in the previous two games, the Falcons never looked back and took home a 30-17 game three victory. The Falcons dominance was made apparent by the fact that the Brown and Orange never trailed at any point during the match.
The Falcons look to extend the current hot streak when they return to Anderson Arena Wednesday night with a match against IPFW. The Falcons and Mastodons are scheduled to begin at 7 PM.
