BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Dru Joyce's layup with one second left sent the Akron Zips to a 71-69 win over Bowling Green on Thursday night.
After the lead changed hands three times in the final three minutes, Bowling Green's John Reimold hit two free throws to tie the game 69-69 with 25 seconds left.
The Zips (13-6, 7-4 Mid American Conference) then hung onto the ball until the final second, when Joyce got to the basket for the game-winner. He finished with nine points.
Bubba Walther led the Zips with 15 points, while Romeo Travis and Mario Collins each scored 13.
Josh Almanson had 21 points for the Falcons (12-6, 6-4), while John Reimold finished with 18. Steven Wright had 14 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
The Zips scored 27 points off 19 Falcon turnovers while only giving the ball away 10 times themselves.
