BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green took on the Bulls of Buffalo this afternoon at Keefe Courts on the campus of Bowling Green State University. The Falcons improved their record to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in the Mid-American Conference with their 6-1 victory over Buffalo.
The Falcons thrived in doubles with Susie Schoenberger and Ashley Jakupcin at the first flight defeating Andrea Novaceanu and Tina Jacob 8-6. Andrea Meister and Andrea Volle competed at the second doubles flight taking a 9-8 win over Kristen Ortman and Miglena Nenova. Heidi Romer and Cameron Benjamin rounded the Falcons out with their 8-3 win over Katrin Fischer and Sabrina Carmona.
First and second singles flights for the Falcons were promising with Schoenberger taking a 7-5, 6-4 win over Andrea Novaceanu and Ashley Jakupcin defeating Miglena Nenova 6-0, 7-6.
At the third flight Andrea Volle lost to Kristen Orman 6-2, 6-0. This win for Ortman was the 38th of her career, making her UB's winningest singles player in Division I history.
At the fourth flight, Heidi Romer defeated Katrin Fischer 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. The bottom half of the singles bracket proved to be victorious with Meister, Benjamin and Kokinda defeating their opponents.
The Falcons come right back to take on the Zips of Akron on Saturday, April, 2nd at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Toledo, Ohio at 1:00 p.m.
