Palm Beach, Florida - Bowling Green State University All-American quarterback Omar Jacobs was selected as the Amateur Athlete of the Year by the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame. The Sports Hall of Fame Committee, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sports Institute, recognizes athletes, coaches, media, administrators, and contributors who have achieved excellence in sports in Palm Beach County.
He is a native of Delray Beach, Florida and attended Atlantic Community High School. This past year, he led the NCAA in TD passes (41) and points responsbile for (22.5). He completed 309 of 462 passes for 4,002 yards and was the MAC Offensive Player of the Year and MVP of the GMAC Bowl when BGSU defeated Memphis 52-35.
Jacobs will be honored at the 29th Annual Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet on Sunday May 22, 2005 at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
