BGSU's Craig Pickerel Named Academic All-District IV First Team

Bowling Green State University student-athlete Craig Pickerel (Genoa, Ohio) has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV University Division Men's At-Large First Team as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District IV is composed of colleges and universities in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
The 10 members of the first team, including Pickerel, will now move on as candidates for Academic All-America status.
Pickerel was named the 2005 Sportsman of the Year at the Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Tournament on May 7, as voted on by fellow MAC golfers. He became the fifth Falcon to win this prestigious award. He also was named to the Academic All-MAC Team for the second-consecutive year on May 11.
Pickerel earned his undergraduate degree in architectural design (3.88 GPA) earlier this year and is taking graduate courses towards a master's degree in industrial technology with a 4.00 GPA.
He finished tied for 44th with a 72-hole score of 304 at this year's MAC Tournament.
