Falcons Fall Short Saturday As Central Michigan Forces Sunday Rubber Match

Sunday Rubber Match Moving Up To 11 a.m. Due To Wind
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team continued the weekend series against Central Michigan on Saturday (April 11). The Chippewas worked to claim a 5-0 final to even the series and force a rubber match on Sunday (April 12). Lance Vickers led the way at the plate for the Falcons with a double while Ethan Stade tallied eight strikeouts on the mound for the Orange and Brown. The loss moves BGSU to 14-18 on the season while being 8-9 within the Mid-American Conference. Due to wind in Sunday's forecast, the rubber match has been moved up to an 11 a.m. first pitch.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ethan Stade started the game strong, striking out the side in order in the first inning. He tallied five strikeouts through the first seven batters he faced.
- Vinny Salvione singled in the bottom of the second for the first hit of the game by either team.
- Central Michigan scored three in the top of the third to make the score 3-0 before adding runs in the sixth and seventh for a 5-0 advantage.

- Ethan Stade struck out eight batters in the start for Bowling Green, giving him eight or more strikeouts in four straight appearances as well as in five of his last six outings.
- Lance Vickers roped a double for the Falcons in the fifth inning, marking BGSU's first multi-base hit of the weekend series while also marking the first multi-bag hit of the season for Vickers.
- Anthony Mitta tallied a single for the Falcons, extending his hitting streak to a team-leading seven games as well as a hit in 10 of his last 11 contests. Over the seven-game stretch, Mitta has 13 hits, seven RBI, six runs scored, four doubles and a home run.
- Andrew DiLodovico was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the fifth to extend his on-base streak to a team-leading 15 games.
- Alex Laird drew a walk to begin the bottom of the fifth, moving his on-base streak to 11 games for the Falcons.
