KENT, Ohio (AP) - Mawel Soler scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Bowling Green to a 79-74 win over Kent State on Thursday night.
Kent State pulled to within 3 points on a layup by Kevin Warzynski with 1:47 left, but the Falcons hit eight free throws to build a 75-66 lead with 33 seconds to go.
The loss was the first for the Golden Flashes in the Mid-American Conference.
Martin Samarco scored 16 points for Bowling Green (8-10, 4-4 Mid-American). John Floyd had 14 and Steven Wright added 13 off the bench.
Warzynski led Kent State (13-6, 7-1) with 25 points off the bench. DeAndre Haynes had 18, and Armon Gates scored 15.
Kent State scored 21 points off turnovers and outscored Bowling Green 30-16 in the paint.
