FINDLAY, Ohio - The Falcons are spending this weekend away from home as they compete in the Findlay Track & Field Classic both Friday and Saturday. There were only a handful of Bowling Green competitors at Friday's events, but they still made a name for themselves.
For the third week in a row, sophomore Whitney Hartman proved she was an invaluable force for the Falcons as she won the 20-Lb. weight throw, setting yet another personal record. This week she shattered her previous record of 16.65-meters by almost a full meter (17.52-meters, 57-05.75). As of early Saturday morning, this new toss would move her into third in the MAC.
Hartman keeps getting closer and closer to the school record set by Mary Willems in 2003, throwing 62-01.25 (19.23-meters). In three weeks time, she has improved her toss by over two meters. If she continues on her record setting pace, there is no doubt that she may have that record by the end of the indoor season. Hartman is throwing the best in this event since Willems graduated in 2003.
Another Falcon came out big for the team. Paris Bussey, too set a personal-record in the weight throw, tossing 15.66-meters (51.04.25), placing her fourth.
Lauren Bryant and Takara Dunning rounded out the throwers in the weight throw, throwing 13.16-meters (43-02.25) and 11.51-meters (37-09.25) respectively.
Day two of the meet begins today at 9:30 a.m. with the women's shot put.
