BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Martin Samarco scored 12 points and Bowling Green ran off 16 consecutive points in the middle of the game to beat Central Michigan 66-44 on Wednesday night.
Mawel Soler added 11 points for the Falcons (5-6, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) who won despite being outrebounded 42-31 and outscored at the line 21-9.
Sefton Barrett had 17 points for Central Michigan (2-8, 0-2), which never led after Drew Walker opened the scoring. Bowling Green ran off the next eight points - the first four by Soler - and went on to lead 30-18 at the half and by as many as 25 points in the second half.
In addition to turning the ball over 28 times, the Chippewas hit just 26.2 percent of their shots from the field (11 of 42) and made just one of 11 3-pointers.
With the Falcons holding a 22-18 lead late in the first half, they scored the final eight points of the half and the first eight points of the second half. Soler and John Floyd each scored five points in the 16-0 run.
