McNayr and Perea Named to 2006 Men's Soccer Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference has announced sophomore Kyle McNayr and junior Ryan Perea were named to the 2006 Men's Soccer Academic All-MAC team. McNayr and Perea are the first Falcons to earn the honor since 2002.
McNayr, a sophomore defender from Oklahoma City, played and started in 15 matches this season tallying 1290 minutes for the Orange and Brown. In two full seasons, McNayr has competed in 34 matches and has made as many starts. He scored his first collegiate goal on a penalty kick in the Falcons' second round loss to eventual runner-up Akron in the 2006 MAC tournament. He is a computer science major.
Perea, a native Texan, saw 988:00 of field time in 16 contests. He scored seven points including two goals and a team-high three assists on 11 shots on goal. Perea was also one of three Falcons to convert a PK attempt. While representing the Orange and Brown, he has notched 13 points (3g, 4a) in 50 matches. He is a sport management/marketing major.
The honorees were selected by the faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions. A total of 11 student-athletes were named to the team. The number of honorees on the MAC All-Academic Team are the number that is set for the specific sport or 33% of the number of nominees, whichever is greater.
A total of 20 Bowling Green student-athletes have earned membership on the All-MAC Academic team dating back to 1993. Including 2006, the Falcons have earned multiple spots on the All-MAC Academic team in six of eight years in which a BGSU student-athlete was honored.
BGSU finished the season at 4-14-1 after advancing to the MAC tournament semifinal contest.
