AKRON, Ohio (AP) -Dennis Kennedy rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns and Luke Getsy passed for two more scores to lead Akron to a 35-28 victory over Bowling Green on Saturday.
Kennedy, who carried 24 times, scored on runs of 13 and 1 yards - the latter to give the Zips (4-5, 2-3 Mid-American Conference) a 28-21 lead with 3 seconds left in the third quarter.
Andrew Walker then scored on a 9-yard run midway through the final period to give Akron some breathing room.
Getsy completed 17-of-25 passes for 248 yards and an interception, hitting David Harvey on scoring passes of 26 and 21 yards.
Anthony Turner passed for one score and ran for three for the Falcons (4-6, 3-3). He gained 105 yards on 22 rushes, scoring on runs of 1, 1 and 8 yards, and also connected with Pete Winovich on a 7-yard score. Turner completed 20-of-36 passes for 192 yards without an interception.
