THE GAME
Miami jumped out to a 7-1 lead.
The Falcons took their first lead of the game at 11-10 on a three-pointer by junior John Floyd with 12:35 left in the half.
The Falcons had their biggest lead of the game after a triple by junior Martin Samarco and a two-pointer by senior Steven Wright gave BGSU a 16-12 lead with 10:34 to go in the half.
The Falcons had their last lead of the game on another three-pointer by Floyd put them up 20-18 with 8:14 left in the half.
Miami went on a 9-0 run to lead 27-20, but a Samarco three-pointer with 5:34 cut the lead to 27-23.
Miami led 38-28 at halftime and then scored the first eight points of the second half.
The closest the Falcons could get was at 51-38 with 13:14 remaining after Floyd scored five straight points.
TEAM NOTES
The Falcons enhanced their MAC leading three-point field goal percentage by making 11 of 24 from long distance (45.8%). BGSU is shooting 38.2% from three-point land this season.
The RedHawks shot just 17 free throws the fewest by a BGSU opponent this season.
BGSU INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Freshman Erik Marschall missed the game after suffering a sprained left ankle in practice earlierin the week.
Junior John Floyd eclipsed the 20-point barrier (21) for the second time this year and finished just two short of his career-high. The Toledo native also set new season-highs for free throws made (6) and steals (3). The three steals also tie his career- mark.
Junior Martin Samarco scored in double-digits for the 18th time this season and added four more three-pointers to his league leading number, giving him 65 on the year from downtown. He leads the MAC in scoring at 19.2 points per game.
Senior Mawel Soler tied his season and career-high for three- point field goals made (2) and three-point field goals attempted (3).
Freshman Brian Moten had six points, two rebounds and an assist. He has averaged 16.5 minutes per game in the last three games.
Freshman Dusan Radivojevic contributed five points off the bench for the Falcons and hit both of his free throw attempts.
Freshman Darryl Clements saw his most extensive action against a MAC squad with nine minutes played. He had a steal on the first play he saw action. Sophomore Alvin Freeman also logged a MAC career-best four minutes of playing time.
