BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green Falcons are off to their best start since 2001 as they improved to 3-0 after completing the sweep of Murray State in impressive fashion, 14-0.
Junior Greg Becker picked up the win by hurling four scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Senior Dash Yost and Sophomore Andrew Foster paced the Falcons with four RBI apiece. Senior Tyler Wasserman improved his season batting average to .636 with a 4-for-6 effort on Sunday. Junior Josh Dietz added three more RBI to the Falcon effort. Freshman Greg Feldkamp also contributed two RBI in the win.
A bases-loaded walk gave Bowling Green a 1-0 in the first. The Falcons have scored at least one run in the first inning every game, and BGSU has yet to trail in a game this season.
Bowling Green increased their lead to five runs after the third, capped off by a two-RBI double down the right-field line by Yost that scored Foster and Freshman Brandon McFarland.
After failing to score a run in the fourth, the Falcons got back to business by putting up six more runs in the next two innings, making the score 11-0 after six innings. The Brown and Orange piled on three more scores in the ninth to finish the 14-0 triumph.
A quintuple of Falcon relievers completed the shutout, each working the mound for one inning of scoreless baseball.
The Falcons bring their unblemished record to Dayton for a matchup with the Flyers on Wednesday, March 1st. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
