BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Junior Greg Becker has been credited with nearly half of the Falcons wins this season, picking up his third "W" of the year in a 3-2 win over Evansville. Becker lasted seven innings, allowing just one run while striking out three Purple Aces. Junior Josh Stewart led the offensive attack, elevating his season batting average above .400 with a pair of hits.
Both squads put a lone run on the scoreboard in the third, creating a 1-1 tie that lasted until the seventh inning.
Freshman phenom Brandon McFarland jump-started the seventh with a double to right field. Juniors Josh Dietz and Kurt Wells provided BGSU with a pair of RBI, giving the Brown and Orange a 3-1 advantage.
A ninth-inning run by Evansville created an eerie sense of deja vu for the Falcons after a late-inning rally propelled the Purple Aces to a win the night before. However, Sophomore Brett Browning shattered the idea of another rally by finishing off the last two batters and earning the save.
The Falcons look to take the weekend series on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
