BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - David Belfort left his legacy on the Falcon soccer program by becoming the second Falcon player to be awarded the Mickey Cochrane Coaches' Award more twice in his career. The West Chester, Ohio native follows in the footsteps of Doug Stapleton who won the award after the 1980 and'81 seasons.
The award is given to the student-athlete that exemplifies what every Falcon soccer player strives to achieve both on the soccer field and in the classroom. It was named in Cochrane's honor at the 1994 Awards Dinner.

Belfort and Stapleton also share the rare distinction as winning the Mickey Cochrane Coaches' Award and the Most Improved Award in the same year. Stapleton was the first to do so thirty-five years ago.
The Most Improved Award recognizes the player who improved his individual game and increased his contribution to the success of the team as the season progressed.
In four years, Belfort recorded two goals and two assists with his first goal coming against IUPUI in 2004. The midfielder played in 59 matches and started in 40.
Fellow senior standout Omari Aldridge received the Gary V. Palmisano Memorial Award as the most valuable player on the team. The first team All-MAC selection finished his career with 48 points (21g, 6a) in 58 starts. The British Columbia native not only led the Orange and Brown in goals this season, but he also broke into the Single Season Goal Top Ten scoring list with his 11th goal this season.
Aldridge is the fourth Falcon in the programs' 36 year history to win it in consecutive years. Neil Ridgway (1981-1983), Steve Klein (1994-1996), and Chris Doré (1998-1999).
Freshman Kyle McNayr headlines the class of 2009 after being named top newcomer and receiving the Tony Corsiglia Memorial Award. McNayr was recognized for his efforts as the outstanding new member of the program that contributed both on the practice field, as well as in matches, at a consistent level.
Sophomores Ryan and Alec Perea were the co-recipients of the Dr. Lee & Marge Meserve Academic Award. The Texans had the highest GPA for the fall 2005 season. Alec is a marketing major while his twin, Ryan, is working toward a degree in sport management
