BOWING GREEN, Ohio - Sophomore forward Abiola Sandy has been selected to the Trinidad and Tobago U-21 National Team and is currently represented his country at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean games in Colombia. The qualifying games are being held in Malabar, Trinidad and Tobago.
Sandy started and recorded the full game in the March 31 tie, 1-1, against Dominica. The Accounting major and Co. fell 3-1 to Haiti yesterday in the CAC Qualification round.
"Abi has worked hard and continues to work everyday on improving himself as a soccer player," said coach Fred Thompson. "It is good to see him recognized by his country as he continues to grow and improve."
Sandy is one of ten players to score more than two goals since 2000.
"This will be a valuable experience that should inspire him to work even harder. And of course, we wish him the best and hope for much success."
