DAYTON, Ohio - The Falcons kicked off spring with a 5-0 road win over Wright State University to put a damper on their Alumni/Team Banquet day, Saturday.
The Falcons were in rare spring form with the inclusion of the former senior class aiding on the road contest.
"With such a small squad in the Spring and with Abiola Sandy on International duty in Trinidad, we needed our seniors to be able to field a team," said coach Fred Thompson.
Each of the goalies saw action in the net, with Dayton native Mark Scholz making the start and setting the tempo with several key saves early in the match.
"The exciting part for me was that although we had our two captains back on the field, they were moved to a supporting role. Our younger players have stepped up and are taking responsibility for their game and what has become their team."
Freshmen Justin Kim (1g, 1a) and George Davis (2g) accounted for three goals while senior Omari Aldridge scored once in each of the halves.
"The quality of our soccer at times was very good. It was fun to watch. There is still a lot of work to do. Our defending, particularly one-on-one situations in terms of spotting danger as a group will need more focus.
"I am encouraged by the way we played. We have been making strides all year and we'll look to continue to move forward."
