BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -
After an hour and 58 minute rain delay in the middle of Saturday's contest, the Falcons eventually took away a 6-4 victory at Buffalo. Freshman Brian Hangbers earned his fifth win of the season while Junior Josh Stewart led the offense with a 3-for-5 day.
Bowlng Green took advantage of a costly Buffalo fielding error in the second inning, scoring two unearned runs. After a UB run in the home-half inning, Stewart responded with an RBI-double in the top of the third to give BGSU a 3-1 lead.
BGSU added its fourth run the following inning before the Bulls stormed back and knotted the score at 4-4 with a three-run fourth inning.
With the score all square at 4-4 in the sixth, Freshman Marty Baird drew a walk. A sarifice bunt and groundball pushed Baird to third base. Then a wild pitch allowed the Findlay, Ohio native to score the go-ahead run.
With Junior reliever Tyler Johnson rolling through the Bulls lineup, Bowling Green added an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Johnson worked the mound for the final 3.2 innings of the game, allowing just two hits and fanning five UB batsmen.
The Brown and Orange are now just 1.5 games out of the sixth and final MAC tournament slot with four games to go. BGSU looks for the sweep Sunday (May 14) afternoon at 1 PM.
