BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its All-Region softball teams Wednesday (May 17), and, for Bowling Green State University standout Gina Rango, a yearly tradition continues in 2006. Rango (North Lima, Ohio/Boardman) was named to the all-region first team for the fourth consecutive year.
Rango, a third baseman who recently completed her senior season, is now a candidate for NFCA All-American honors. The All-America squad will be announced in conjunction with the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla., during the week of May 29.
Rango, who in 2004 became the first player in school history to earn all-region honors on more than one occasion, is obviously the first-ever Falcon to be named to the team in all four seasons. Only six times has a BGSU player been named to the all-region first team, and Rango has done so four times. Amy Lienhardt (1988) and Rachelle Highfill (1993) are the Falcons' other first-team selections.

The Great Lakes All-Region Team is the result of voting by the head coaches within the region.
Rango was an All-MAC First-Team pick in each of her four seasons. She led the Falcons with a .366 batting average on the season, and also paced the Brown and Orange in hits (67), doubles (14 - tied for team lead), homeruns (a school-record 10), RBI (32), total bases (113), slugging percentage (.617) and on-base pct. (.423). Rango was second on the team in runs scored (30) in 2006.
