BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's golf team, along with head coach Garry Winger has announced their schedule for the upcoming fall schedule. Highlighting the fall season will be the John Piper Invitational, here in Bowling Green, a tournament the Falcons won last season.
The Falcons will open the year in Cleveland, Ohio for the Cleveland State Invitational, set to take place on Sept. 11-12.
The following weekend the Brown and Orange will host the John Piper Invitational on Sept. 18-19. Last season the Falcons blitzed the entire 12-team field, setting new school records for 18 holes (275), 36 holes (562) and 54 (845) holes. That tournament alone, BGSU was nine shots better than the nearest competitor.
BGSU will then compete in the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 2-3), Earl Yestingmeier Invitational (Oct. 9-10) and the MAC/Big East Challenge (Nov. 4-5), all tournaments the Falcons competed in last season.
Last season Dan McIntyre (66-69-79) and Trevor Spathelf (72-73-69) led the Falcons at the Earl Yestingmeier. Overall the Falcons finished sixth in the 15-team field.
Bowling Green finished 14th among 19 teams at the Xavier Invitational last season and was led by Jace Walker. Walker fired a 214 (73-69-72) for a 2-under.
The MAC/Big East Challenge saw the Falcons finish seventh of 11 teams last season. McIntyre (73-75-72) and Walker (72-77-73) are the top Falcons returning from that event.
