BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Musketeers of Xavier University will travel to Mickey Cochrane Stadium to kick-off against the Falcons to open the pre-season at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. This will be the first exhibition match for each program this fall.
After less than a week of practice, fitness tests and inter-squad scrimmages the coaching staff feels the game will be advantageous to the young Falcons.
"It will be good to have a game this early in camp," said coach Fred Thompson. "Luckily the team is not at the point where they are tired of kicking solely against each other."
The third year head coach also noted the early match will allow the intensity to heighten post-match because the Falcons will have just four days to train before they travel to Dayton for a Sunday afternoon scrimmage.
The Falcons traveled to Cincinnati for a non-conference match and fell 5-0 to XU last season. Since that last meeting, the Orange and Brown are 4-9-1.
The scrimmage will be open to the general public.
