Bowling Green (1-1-0) will experience their first road test as they travel to the Coastal Carolina Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina over the Labor Day holiday weekend...The predetermined opponents for the tournament will include host Coastal Carolina (9/1, 7:00 p.m.) and Furman University (9/3, 12:30 p.m.)...Live stats will be available for the CCU game through the Gametracker link on the soccer schedule...All three programs have one win and one loss on the season thus far.

Falcons Win Opening Day Match
• The last time the Falcons won their opening day match was in 1999...The win was a 3-1 decision over Dayton on September 1, 1999.
• The 2006 Falcons won their opening day match in a 2-1 OT decision over Western Illinois on August 25, 2006...Ahmad Smith gave the Falcons the win with his first collegiate goal...Justin Kim took part in both BGSU scores...he scored the Falcons first goal in the 55th minute...Kim also assisted on the Smith goal...the BGSU defense did not allow their opponent to shoot through the first 23:39 minutes of action.
BGSU Falls to EIU
• BGSU fell to Eastern Illinois on August 27, 2006, 2-1...Ahmad Smith had the lone goal for the Falcons on a PK...Sophomore Paul Shoemaker
finished the match with 2 GAA and 3 saves.
Thompson Off to Best Start
• Third year head coach Fred Thompson is off to his best start in the Orange and Brown...BGSU's 1-1 record after opening weekend is the best a team has posted under Thompson.

Three Named to All-Tournament Team
• Rookies Tyler Deal, Jacob Lawrence, and Ahmad Smith were named to the Falcon Classic All-Tournament team...The August 25-27 tournament was held in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Smith Leads the Offensive Attack
• Mississippi native, Ahmad Smith was responsible for two of the Falcons three opening weekend goals...His overtime goal gave the Falcons the win against the Western Illinois Leathernecks on August 25...The rookie mid-fielder's penalty kick against Eastern Illinois was the lone goal for the Orange and Brown on August 27.

Making the Hometown Connection
• The Falcons have three sets of players that were high school teammates...Ryan and Alec Perea were both members of the Hillcrest High School soccer team in Dallas, Texas...Ahmad Smith and Chris Davis were teammates at Callaway High School in Jackson, Mississippi...Additionally, Cameron Hepple and Kyle Williams played at St. Andrew's High School in Nassau, Bahamas.
Hepple to Play with Bahamian National Team
•Red-shirt freshman Cameron Hepple was chosen as a member of the Bahamian National team and will compete in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Tournament...Hepple will travel with the Bahamian team from August 30-Steptember 7...The team will have the chance to compete against World Cup caliber teams.
Falcons Across the Pond
•Three Falcons spent the summer off-season participating in international competition...Cameron Hepple, Kyle Williams, and Dana Veth traveled as members of the U20 Bahamian National teams.

Soaring in the MAC
•Justin Kim and Ahmad Smith tied for a third place overall ranking with six shots taken over the weekend...Smith is one of three MAC leaders in overall points and is one of two MAC athletes to have two goals in the opening weekend, he ties WMU's veteran Tom Oatley...Smith and Oatley also lead the league in points per game and goals...Kim ties nine other MAC athletes for third with one goal on the weekend and one assist on the weekend...Keeper Paul Shoemaker ranks second amongst all MAC athletes with a 1.41 GAA and is tied for second with just three goals against.

•In 191:53 minutes of play, BGSU is second amongst all MAC programs with a 1.41 GAA...BGSU also ranks second in total goals and goals per game with an average of 1.50 and total points with seven...the Falcons are leading.

Coastal Team History
•Coastal Carolina is coached by Shaun Docking who is in his eighth year with the Chanticleers...he has amassed a 104-49-11 overall record and a 44-22-3 Big South Conference record... last season the Chants finished at 11-9-1 overall and 4-3 (3rd) in the Big South...CCU won their conference tournament...CCU returns 11 lettermen and welcomes 18 newcomers.
CCU in 2006
•The Chants are 1-1-0 after the first weekend of regular season play...they were shut-out in their first road match against Oakland (Mich.) (8/25)... Luke Ibbetson recorded his first hat trick in the 3-2 victory over Michigan in Ann Arbor (8/27).
BGSU/Coastal Series History
•In the only meeting between the two programs, BGSU beat CCU 3-1 in 1994.
SCOUTING THE PALADINS (9/3)
Furman Team History
•Furman University is coached by Doug Allison who is in his 11th year with the Paladins...his 151-60-20 record stands as his career overall and Furman record...last season the Paladins finished the season with an 8-8-4 team record and 4-3-0 Southern Conference record...they finished tied for fourth in the Southern Conference...Furman returns 17 letterman and eight starters from last season's team.
Furman in 2006
•The Paladins are 1-1-0 since competing in the The Bert and Iris Wolstein Soccer Classic at Ohio State University...they opened their season with a shut-out win over No. 5 Penn State University (8/25)...host OSU then defeated Furman 2-0 (8/27).
