COLUMBUS, Ohio - The host Ohio State University topped the Bowling Green State University tennis team by a 7-0 score Saturday (Jan. 27). The non-conference dual match was held at the Jesse Owens West Tennis Center in Columbus.
The Falcons' (1-3) lone win was an impressive 8-1 decision from the team of junior Jenna Nussbaum and sophomore Kelsey Jakupcin at the top doubles flight. That, however, proved to be BGSU's lone win of the day.
In singles play, although the Buckeyes swept all six matches, BGSU's competitors at the top three flights all extended their matches to the maximum three sets. Those three Falcons were senior Ashley Jakupcin at the top flight, freshman Samantha Kintzel at flight number two and Nussbaum at the third level.
The Brown and Orange will return to Northwest Ohio for a Sunday (Jan. 28) match vs. Youngstown State University. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Toledo.
