YPSILANTI, Mich. - Following the Falcons 39-32 win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles...a few notes from the contest.
• Following a 34-yard kickoff return by Roger Williams the Falcons were 3-for-4 for 32 yards passing and had one rush for five yards. Eastern Michigan also had a 15-yard penalty on the Falcons opening touchdown drive.
• Freddie Barnes completed the Falcons first drive with a 20-yard touchdown, his seventh of the season.
• Tyrone Pronty caught an eight yard pass on third-and-seven, while getting hit and flipping through the air on the last play of first quarter.
• On third-and-14 Tyler Sheehan threw an incomplete pass to Dan Macon. While the teams were running off the field an EMU defender was called for unsportsmanlike conduct, giving BGSU a first down. On the next play Barnes caught a one handed pass at the EMU four-yard line. Anthony Turner scored a rushing touchdown on the next play.
• Following the Turner touchdown the Eagles blocked the BGSU extra point, but were flagged for being offside. Sinisa Vrvilo banged in the extra point on his second attempt.
• On the Falcons' opening drive of the second half Sheehan completed three consecutive passes to Anthony Turner to start the drive. Turner caught passes of 23, 5 and 8 yards. Later in the drive Dan Macon ran up the middle but fumbled the ball on the EMU 6-yard line. After several Eagle defenders jumped on the ball (in the middle of the endzone), the pigskin squirted free to the Falcons' Shane Steffy, who grabbed the ball for his first career touchdown.
• Trailing 20-14 to start the third quarter the Bowling Green defense forced the Eagles to punt on their first two possessions of the second half, while the Falcons scored touchdowns on each of their first two possessions to take a 28-20 lead into the fourth quarter.
• Two of the Falcons top three rushers in the game were Tyler Sheehan (10-65, 1 TD) and Anthony Turner (14-49, 2 TD), the Falcons top two quarterbacks to start the season.
• BGSU ran for 193 yards in the contest. The Falcons are now 5-1 on the year when they run for 100-plus yards in a game.
• Making his first career start, freshman Glen Stanley had a career-high 18 tackles. His previous-best was six tackles last weekend versus Akron.
• P.J. Mahone and Erique Dozier joined Stanley in double-figure tackles with 11 tackles apiece.
• Vrvilo was 1-for-1 on field goal attempts for the day, banging in a 41-yarder in the fourth quarter to extend the Falcons lead to 31-26. He is now 14-of-17 on the year.
• Bowling Green did not punt in the game.
• Bowling Green is now 23-10-1 all-time versus Eastern Michigan and have won the last nine contests.
• Trailing 32-31 with 6:15 left in the game Chris Bullock, seeing his first action of the game, had rushes of 17, 11 and 21 yards. Sheehan also scrambled for 12 yards on three carries, including a 1-yard touchdown plunge with four minutes remaining.
• The Sheehan fourth-quarter comeback was the second of his career after leading the Falcons to a win over Minnesota to open the season, trailing late in the fourth quarter.
• With EMU driving for the tying touchdown, DT Sean O'Drobinak deflected a pass on fourth down.
• Sheehan is 24 yards shy of 2,674 for sixth all-time in passing yards for a season in the Falcon record books.
