Soccer Falcons Spring Back Into Competitive Action

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Head coach Fred Thompson has announced the men's soccer Falcons will take part in April Spring games. The Orange and Brown will play host to Wright State (Apr. 14) and UW-Parkside (Apr. 14) and will travel to Michigan State (Apr. 10) and Dayton (Apr. 21).
"We are going to be tested in the spring season by a group of quality opponents," said Thompson. "The team is looking forward to competing against the diverse schedule and to work on our own skills in preparation for next season. We are ready to show how we are improving both on the individual and team levels."
Of the Spring opponents, Kentucky earned a final regular season ranking of No. 13 overall.
Michigan State University at Old College Field (April 10, 5:30 p.m.)
State finished the season with a 10-6-2 record after falling in the first round of the Big Ten tournament at Ohio State University. The Spartans visited Cochrane Field once in 2006 and beat the Falcons 1-0 (9/20/06).
Wright State at Cochrane Field (April 14, 12:30 p.m.)
Wright State finishes the season 8-9-1 overall and 1-6 in the Horizon League after falling to nationally ranked UIC in the Horizon League Quarterfinals 10-9 in a shootout. The Raiders beat the Falcons 4-1 in Cochrane Stadium on Sept. 17.
UW-Parkside at Cochrane Field (April 14, 2:30 p.m.)
DIII powerhouse UW-Parkside concluded their season with a 13-4-4 mark after losing to Northern Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The team was nationally ranked throughout the season, reaching as high as No. 7 in the country. The Rangers are scheduled to take on ten DI programs this spring.
University of Kentucky at Baujan Field on the campus of Dayton University (April 21, 1:15 p.m.)
The Kentucky men's soccer team, which went 14-5-2 last season and ended the regular season ranked 13th, was the sixth most improved team in the country. The Wildcats showed a five-game improvement from a 6-7-6 campaign in 2005 en route to registering the second most wins in school history in 2006.
University of Dayton at Baujan Field (April 21, 2:30 p.m.)
Dayton ended the 2006 season with a four game conference win-streak to reach a final record of 6-9-2. Of their nine losses, the Flyers were shutout seven times.
