BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Falcons will travel to Detroit's Buysse Ballpark for a double act with the Titans. The 37th and 38th meetings between the programs are pegged to begin at 3:00 p.m. and approximately 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
Originally, this meeting was slated as the final non-conference opponent for the Falcons, but with the postponement of the April 11 doubleheader at No. 1 Tennessee BGSU will have a remaining non-conference contest before heading into the Mid-American Conference tournament in May.
Bowling Green put together quite a successful weekend for themselves winning their eighth straight conference game as well as sweeping both series with the visiting Miami RedHawks and the Ball State Cardinals. They are currently riding their longest conference win streak since the 2003 season where they strung together 10 W's.
The Falcons outscored their combined opponents 18-7 in four games. The BGSU bats also let lose scoring six doubles and four homeruns at the BGSU Softball Field whereas the defense let up just one double and a homerun. BGSU also tied the single season homerun record by hitting their 29th of the season on Sunday against Ball State.
Individually, junior Allison Vallas ended the weekend on a high note surpassing personal career milestones on a variety of all-time record lists and now sits in the top four of the career RBI (90), career HR (11) and single season HR (8) lists. Sophomore Hayley Wiemer also entered the single season HR race booting her seventh homerun of the season. With the long ball she sits fourth all-time on the single season list. Senior Jeanine Baca is also chipping away at the top career spots on the games played (211 - 3rd), games started (210 - 3rd), at bats (687 - 2nd), hits (193 - t-3rd), runs (123 - 3rd), total bases (271 - 4th), and stolen bases (38 - t-4th).
