Through the cold and wind (which reached gusts of 30 mph) the Bowling Green State University women's golf team fired a 713 (353-360) through 36 holes of the 2007 Falcon Invitational, placing them eighth in the 11-team field. The conditions, which played a major factor in the day, did not allow a single competitor to break 80 (74 competitors, 148 rounds).
On the opening 18 holes Carley Hrusovsky fired an 82, which was third-best overall in the round to open the Falcon Invitational. Lindsey Jonkhoff and Jessica McCann also broke 90 in the morning round, carding an 89 and 88 respectively. The shotgun start began at 8:00 a.m., with local thermometers reading 39 degrees.
Round two warmed up a bit, reaching into the low 50's, but the wind was relentless all day, knocking over bags and blowing balls several feet, even after they would come to rest.
Junior Amanda Bader carded an 88 to lead the Orange and Brown in round two. Not far off the pace, Hrusovsky, who fired an 89.
Overall, the Falcons sit in eighth-place, but are just 12 strokes back from fifth. Individually, BGSU is led by Hrusovsky (171, T-8th).
Jonkhoff (180, T-27th), Bader (182, T-33rd), McCann (182, T-33rd), senior Kari Liggett (186, T-49th), Megan Gormley (195, T-59th) and Hannah Lambert (206, 69th) complete the Falcon roster.
The third and final round begins with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
