The Bowling Green State University men's golf team shot a 36-hole score of 630 (317-313) at the UD Spring Invitational to sit in fourth after day one of competition. The 12-team tournament is being held at the NCR Country Club in Dayton, Ohio.
For the team competition the Falcons trail only Wisconsin-Green Bay (618), Wright State (628) and Malone College (628).
Leading the way for the Orange and Brown was freshman John Powers. The Bowling Green, Ohio native carded a 76-79, which currently places him in a tie for eighth place.
Not far off the pace were juniors Jace Walker and Trevor Spathelf. Walker fired back-to-back 78's, while Spathelf had a team-high 84 in round one, but then carded a team-low, 74, in the second round. Walker currently sits in 14th, while Spathelf is in 20th.
Rounding out the top five were also a pair of freshman, Andrew Ladwig (162, T-34th) and Matt Schneider (165, T-46th).
The third and final round begins at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
