BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team lost a 10-6 ball game to Wright State Tuesday afternoon at Warren Steller Field. Wright State got a bit of revenge after the Falcons stomped the Raiders earlier in the season, 11-1.
BGSU took a one-run lead in the second inning, thanks to a pair of scores in home-half of the inning. Senior Kurt Wells blasted a ball through the right side of the infield to begin the scoring rally. Sophomore Brian Hangbers followed with a rip down the right-field line, resulting in an RBI-triple. Next up was Freshman Derek Spencer, sent a shot right back up the middle to score Hangbers from third base.
Wright State managed to score five runs over the next three innings for a 6-2 advantage after four and half innings played. The Falcons responded in the bottom of the fifth inning though, posting three runs. Senior Josh Dietz's pinch hit, two-run homer highlighted the inning. Sophomore Ryan Shay also drove in a run.
Unfortunately for the Falcons, WSU added four more runs to their total while the Brown and Orange only added one. Spencer raised his season average to .411 with another RBI-single in the eighth inning.
After a Wednesday afternoon showdown at Cleveland State, Bowling Green returns home four a three-game set this weekend against MAC foe, Buffalo. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM on Friday, May 11th and 1 PM for Saturday and Sunday's matchups.
