Falcons Fall to the Titans, 3-0

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Falcons headed west this weekend to the Holiday Inn Buena Park Titan Classic where they took on host Cal State Fullerton Friday (Aug. 31) night. The Falcons fought hard but lost 27-30, 30-32, 25-30.
The Orange and Brown came out strong matching the Titans point for point until an eight point Titan run, which left the score 8-18, the biggest lead the Titans would hold in game one. Even though the Falcons were down they weren't finished and answered back with a four point run to bring them within seven points. BGSU continued to fight back but found themselves at game point for the Titans, 29-20. The Falcons weren't done yet, and got side out from a Madeline Means kill assisted by Meghan Mohr. The Falcons put together a seven point run to pull with in two points 29-27, but didn't have enough to overcome the Titans as they won game one, 30-27.
Game two marked the toughest game between the Falcons and the Titans neither team took more than a four point lead throughout the game. The score was tied 20-20 as both teams felt the push for game two. The Falcons found themselves in another tight situation down, 29-25, but yet again the Falcons were resilient and fought back as Kaitlin Jackson stepped up with a kill assisted by Chelsey Meek. The Falcons strung together a four point run tying the game up, 29-29. With the Titans at game point the Falcons continued to battle in the tying the score up again, 30-30. The Titans took the last two points of the game and won, 32-30.
In game three the Titans came out firing against the Falcons right away. The Falcons fell victim early to two consecutive five point Titan runs finding themselves down, 11-5. The Falcons kept the Titans within striking distance but were never able to gain the lead. The Falcons fought hard and were able to once again tie the game up in the final points, 24-24. After a five point Titan run the game looked like it was over with game point for the Titans, 29-24, but the Falcons continued to battle and Jackson came up with a kill from Mohr to give the Falcons another chance. The Falcons weren't able to pull it out and lost 30-25.
The Falcons offense was led by Means with 10 kills and Jackson adding nine. Mohr ran the offense collecting 29 assists and Meek led the defense with 23 digs.
The Falcons finish up the Titan Classic Saturday (Sept. 1) against Portland State at 10:00 a.m. PT and Stony Brook at 4:30 p.m. PT.
