BG, who had hopes of having an individual winner in the event for the third-straight season, had their hopes dashed near the mid-way point. After leading the early stage of the race, Falcon sophomore Eddie Kipchoge (Eldoret, Kenya) was forced to drop out due to an ankle injury that had caused him problems earlier in the week. Kipchoge had won the event last fall and was looking to defend his race crown.
Though Kipchoge didn't have the opportunity to win this weekend, he and his Falcon teammates will have a week off once again to prepare for their next event. Both squads will next compete at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky. On Sept. 29. The event will kick-off at 9:30 a.m.
