Men's Golf Signs a Pair to National Letters on Intent

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University men's golf head coach Garry Winger has announced that Wes Gates and Kyle Laberdee have signed National Letters of Intent and will be joining the Falcons for the 2009-10 season.
"We are extremely excited to add two excellent young men to our program for next fall," said Winger. "Both Wes and Kyle are quality individuals on and off the golf course."
Gates, a native of Novi, Mich., is the sixth ranked golfer in the state of Michigan among 2009 graduates, according to the junior golf scoreboard (www.njgs.com). That same website ranks the 2009 graduate as the 168th player in the country among his classmates. Gates, who finished ninth at the AJGA Randy Wise Junior Open, also played hockey at Northville High School. Gates' father, Jon, played golf at Eastern Michigan, is the head golf pro at the Detroit Golf Club.
Laberdee, a native of Bowling Green, Ohio, is a three-year member of the first-team all-league and all-district. He captured medalist honors at the PGA Northern Ohio Championship with a 54-hole score of 208 (66-68-74). The local product also finished first at his league championship with a score of 70.
